Colon cancer networking at Gilda's Club!

Yesterday, I went here:

gildas

It's a facility on Baxter Avenue in Louisville with a mission to create welcoming communities of free support for everyone living with cancer.

A few years ago, the Project worked with Gilda's to form a colon cancer networking group, and it now meets every fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. (get there at 6 p.m. for some homemade, yummy dinner and dessert served by the many smiling volunteers in the kitchen).

The colon cancer group is led by Karen Allen with Norton Healthcare, and Martha Risen with Baptist Hosptial. They are both kind, wonderful women.

I am told that some regulars come, and often people attend as they need to, sharing their stories. Some had family impacted by colon cancer. Some are going through treatment. Some are years past treatment.

For more information, call Gilda's Club at (502) 583-0075 or call me at (502) 290-0288.

It's a really wonderful program.
